Almost home

We haven't blogged much lately. We got up early and packed and we just got done eating at the Cracker Barrell. We have driven978 miles so far. We are very ready to be home. Tired of driving and riding. Then we have to unpack and get up in the morning and go to work. But we had such a great time.

Tacky Jacks

Christa and I, whilr on the dolphin cruise, saw the most interesting place to eat. Tacky Jack's on Perido Bay. You know how all those chain restraunts like
Joe's Crab Shack try to look wit all the nautical stuff on the walls and the fishing nets and whatnat? Well, this place really Is like that. Most of the seating is on a triple decker dock over perido bay. The restaurant is nestled directly between two marinas with fishing boats and yahts everywhere.

The beach at night

We had tacos at the condo tonight. Then we went down to the beach to look for seashells. It is so beautiful down there at night. It makes you want to live here. We are having so much fun! Only one more day left, we have had a blast every day.

Minigolf Success

We Played minigolf successfully last night without being rained out. We all, with the exception of Brianna had a great time. Brianna was scared of the Volcano the whole time.

We got up this morning and went out to the beach. We are just now getting ready to try to go to the Zoo again. I hope it works out.

Maybe I'll have some pics from the zoo to post later. We didn't bother taking any last night or today, as they would look almost the same as the others we had taken.

"Ain't nuthin to eat at Lulu's"

Last year, we decided to go eat at a little place at a marina called Lulu's. Larry Jess declared, in his own wayM that he didn't see anything on the menu that excited him.

This year, though, we were looking more forward to eating there than anywhere else... They have tasty food, and a great atmosphere.

I had the grilled Mahi Mahi basket and Christa had some funky quesadillas.

Excitement!!!

We've spent the last 3 hrs in a doctor's office with Brianna to see what her rash is. The doc says it's only a minor allergic reaction and prescribed some antihistimines. Looks like the zoo trip today is going to be a wash.

Let's hope we can salvage the rest of the day.

Today's agenda.

We're likely going to go to a zoo today. I'll post some pics antpd other updates about that later.

Logan and some of the other kids are sunburned. That will likely limit our beach time today. The sun is out and the seas are calm. I may put on some goggles, swim out and look for shells for christa.

Rainchecks for minigolf...

we got 12 rainchecks for minigolf later this week thanks to the suprise rainstorm that we got caught in!!! We were about 1/3 through the course when a sudden torrent caused us to abandon the course and take shelter in the volcano.

We're all soaking wet and cold, but there's smiles everywhere. I think that was more fun than just playing minigolf.

Downtime: rain rain go away...

Well, it's raining now. We have some downtime to enjoy...

from left to right:

Brianna is sitting at the table eating a "fangwet" aka: sandwich,Caylea's snugglin with Christa, who's doing homework, Logan and Zachary are watching boy meets world and getting sleepy, and Zane is playing Nintendo DS.

Brianna didn't quite make that bite did she?

Beach tradgedy

I lost my favorite sunglasses today while bodyboarding... I'll have to go buy some more and it's amazingly difficult to satisfy me when it comes to sunglasses.

On a lighter note, christa updated her blog on myspace and posted a new slideshow with new pictures.

The surf was good today and I caught some good waves. It was fun!

We, luckily, have avoided sunburns all around today and yesterday. We haven't spared the sunscreen, and we have paced ourselves.

I hear rumbling and see some dark clouds in the distance... I guess the dolphin cruise will have to wait.

Full, sleepy, and worthless.

If I was offered the most exciting life changing eperience ever or a chance to go to sleep right now. I would pick sleep. Maybe not true, but I WOULD begrudgingly give up the sleep at the very least.

After eating way too much, we are all miserable, but we had to stop at the grocery store to pick up some things. I'm sitting in the car with the children trying, without success to not be sleepy.

I don't think I'm fully recovered from Sunday and I feel drunken with fatigue. I'll be aight. Hehe.

Brianna is singing some awful song, she knows some good ones, but that one is rancid.

I thin the women have been in there like 30 mins!!! How the crap does it take 30 mins to pick up 4 things?!
We don't know anyone in this town, so they can't have 'run into' somebody...

@ Lamberts cafe, eating

After an hr of waiting in front of lamberts for a table for all of us, we are sitting here having rolls thrown at us flagging down waiters for fried potatoes, okra, molasses and applebutter, and waiting on the gravy. Fun times.

Souvineer shopping

We went to souvineer city and got the obligatory t shirt and other assorted trinkets and crap.

Like usual, the one shirt I would actually wear, the only have L and xl.

Shopping @ the wharf

All 13 of us loaded up and went to the Wharf. It's a marina/condo/outdoor shopping mall. Pretty nice place overall. Here's Christa Lea, Caylea Ann, and Brianna Taylor Brummett posing for me in front of the palms.

Day one, workout, the beach, and the cleanup

Larry Jess and I got up around 0630 to go work out at the well equipped gym (no free weights though). The doors, however were locked so we ended up messing around, trying to locate the security guard with no success. The condo manager showed up around 0800 and let us in and we worked out for about an hour.

We returned to the room and the women and children were just beginning to stir. We got out to the beach around 1000 and sunscreened up the kids and ourselves.

the surf and wind was great. Big waves made it good for boogieboarding kids and adults alike. I was the only person who got into a jellyfish but only ended up with a minor sting (its not as bad as weenies say).

We came bac upstairs and are about an hr into the cleanup process... It takes along time...

In Mobile!!!

We are much closer to our destination and only running about 30 mins behind schedule.

We had to stop at another Wendy's so that the kids could go to the restroom.

I'm seeing some seagulls, so the gulf is close. Too bad we can't feed them, because they are generally considered a nuisance animal. Kinda like trying to feed rats in the subway.

Hopefully in 45 mins I'll have the first photos of our room and the gulf...

Boredom in the car

This is the kids being bored in the car while driving through McGee, MS. We had to break out the DVD player. Logan is watching a movie on his PSP. Christa just checked her email through my phone and we are listening to our ipods. By the way I am blogging while driving right now. Technology is great. Brianna is sticking out her tongue, Logan is making a face and Caylea is singing I Love Rock N Roll

Breakfast

We all just stopped to eat at McDonalds. All13 of us. Torrey the lady who waited on us was the nicest person at mcdonalds or other restaurants for that matter. Nicer than our last waiter at Chilis for sure. We are back on the road now. We are in Monroe. Have a long way to go. This is a picture after breakfast of Brianna. They don't realize how long we will be in the car yet.
