My Dad's Triple Bypass Surgery

My dad had a light heart attack starting Saturday night. He didn't tell his wife about it until Sunday, when the pain had went away, but when he went to work Monday morning, the pain came back. He had a buy from work take him to Magnolia hospital where they found no immediate problems on his ECG.

I went to the hospital that night to see him and he seemed fine to me and was up walking around in the room in his normal clothes, laughing and joking. I figured that he would be going home the next day and he would be treated with drugs, as he has been since his heart attack in 1992.

The Cardiologist that recieved his test results decided that he needed to go to Texarkana to recieve a angiogram to determine the nature of the blockages that caused the problem. Again, I figured that he would get the angiogram and then be released to go home.

The day he had the angiogram, Linda called me and told me that he was going to have to have triple bypass surgery the next day because two of his arteries were 99% blocked and one was 75% blocked. He went into surgery Thursday at 2:30 PM and got out of the OR at 7:30 PM.

His surgeon told us that Dad came thrugh the procedured well.

Today, Dad is up and moving around some. He is able to eat today and is being moved to a normal room tonight. Christa and I will be going to see him tomorrow evening. I'll post more, then.

The WeighTrainer - Muscle Growth Part I: Why, and How, Does A Muscle Grow And Get Stronger?

Ok, here it is, boys and girls, THE process and why your muscles grow. It doens't have much to do with anything except putting enough strain on them to damage them. After they get damaged, they get repaired, bigger and better than before.

Alright, I'm at work and not nearly as sore today. Chance and I worked out this morning at HealthWorks. We did the lower body portion of our workout that included quadraceps, hamstrings, clalves, and abdominal muscles.

It was a good workout, and we got to work in plenty of time. Tomorrow we will be doing cardo work, mainly on the eliptical trainer.

Cant' wait.

Mars Exploration Rover Mission: Home

The 2nd of the golf-cart sized mars rovers has safely landed on the surface of Mars. Considering that the sequence of events that happens after seperation from the main space craft is completely automated, and requires no input from the ground, I would say that this is truly an engineering marvel. I'm captivated by the events of the landing of these rovers. Exploration is one thing that we humans have always loved, (for better or for worse) and these rovers are evidence of that.

It looks like that the stupid 256 megs flash-ram on spirit is faulty, and that's why the computer keeps rebooting itself. JPL has sent commands to it telling the rover to work off the RAM instead. Leave it to NASA to build in 30 layers of redunancy in their systems.

Apollo 17 Lunar Surface Journal

That's a lot of video clips of the last apollo missions. That could be very intresting to look at. Especially for someone who never got to experience the Apollo missons. What's sad, is that people from this generation never looked at this footage either, because it stopped being covered by the TV networks of the period.

Men's Fitness: Sore gainer.(preventing muscle soreness after workouts )

THIS is what I knew about before I worked out the other day... I don't regret it for a second, but I can barely walk. Chance's workout tore my legs (especially calves) up real good.
